Opportunity knocks for Keith

ROVERS winger Keith Treacy is hoping to stake a claim for a starting place in tomorrow night's Carling Cup second round tie with Grimsby at Ewood.

The Republic of Ireland Under 21 international could start against the Mariners after manager Paul Ince promised to 'shake things up'.

And Keith, who recently made his Premier League debut as a second half substitute at Everton, is determined to seize the opportunity with both hands as he competes with Morten Gamst Pedersen for a place on the left flank.

"These games are massive for me, because these are the matches where I have to impress to get ahead of Morten and, hopefully, I can do that," said the 19-year-old.

"I look up to Morten a lot - I've always looked up to him. He's a great player, I'm close to him in training, and we get on well off the pitch as well.

"But, at the end of the day, I'm still trying to take his place in the team!"

Coincidentally, Grimsby were also the opposition when Keith made his first-team debut in a pre-season friendly at Blundell Park three years ago.

Now older and wiser, the young Dubliner is looking forward to the prospect of facing them again, knowing a lively performance could greatly enhance his long-term prospects.

"I'm looking forward to the game," he added.

"Hopefully I'll get a start because I came on as a substitute against Grimsby when I was 16 a few years ago, so it will be a sign of progression if I do start the game.

"But if I don't then it isn't the end of the world; I'll just have to keep impressing in training."

既然如此，我就介紹一下吧。


1988年9月13號出生的愛爾蘭中場，善於在左邊路移動，喜歡射門與進球。身高183公分，是克本自家出產的球員。0607賽季曾被租借到Stockport，0708賽季僅出場2次。2008年1月第一次在一隊登場，
2008年8月16日完成英超聯賽初登場，愛爾蘭各青年隊都可看到他的身影，前幾天剛剛當上愛爾蘭U21的隊長。

上賽季受苦於受傷一直沒能好好踢球，但新賽季開始已經逐漸嶄露頭角，國家隊也好球會也好都是頗受注目的新人。克本方面，Ince頗有拉拔青年軍的企圖，看看能不能抓出幾個好苗子吧。
我還沒啥機會看他踢球，本季聯賽第一場雖然是他的Debut，可我完全沒感覺...跟P仔踢同一個位置感覺要拿到機會還是比較困難的，看克本今年能不能在杯賽走遠一點吧。
