LIVE FROM INTER : Solari's news conference
http://www.inter.it/aas/news/reader?N=22506&L=en&IDINI=22509

Last night he scored a brace of goals in Inter's 3-0 home win against Messina. And after this morning's training session at Angelo Moratti Sports Centre, Santiago Solari answered questions from journalists in a news conference:

Solari, many are changing their opinion of you after your recent performances. Are you satisfied about this?
"It's right for each person to do his own job. My first two months here weren't easy for me, I needed time to adapt. After this initial period I reached the same form as my team-mates and things have gone better and better."

So it was mostly a problem linked to physical condition?
"At the start of the season I had a lung problem which kept me out for twenty days. But like I have already said, I needed time to adapt to Italian football. I think this is normal because the way of playing at Inter is different compared with Real Madrid."

But athletically is Spanish football so different from Italian football?
"It's not different from the physical point of view, all over the world you have to run to play football. But tactically you need a few months to adapt. I needed time, but everything was perfect after these first two and a half months."
(這題紅字部分的回答真是太酷了XD)

What is the biggest difference between Italian and Spanish football?
"Tactically they are two very different types of football. What changes is mostly the position in which I have to play in Italy, the work I have to do at Inter is a lot harder, I have to give the team more cover. I have to cover positions I didn't have to get in when I played at Real Madrid. It's the way of playing that's different. A player obviously needs a few months to adapt when he has played for a lifetime in a certain system of play. There haven't been any problems after this initial period. You need to understand the team's needs, it's not possible for each person to play how they want otherwise there's just confusion."
(由左到右還踢過中間,小索真的是盡心盡力)

Solari, have you felt more faith in you in your last two matches against Udinese and Messina?
"You have to play to do well. It's difficult for every player to do well if you don't play or if you play once every two months. Now we have had these matches quite close together and we have done better. But it hasn't just happened to me, there are other team-mates who played yesterday and didn't play in the Champions League. They did well and we did even better than in the Tim Cup game against Udinese."

If these two matches you played had come at the start of the season, would we have seen such a positive
Solari earlier?
"This is just a theory so you can never say. There weren't these matches before and you can't prove anything if you're not playing.
I understand that the coach has to make his decisions and I have great respect for him. My philosophy is to work for the team. Personal analyses will be made at the end of the season."

At Real Madrid you often came on as a substitute...
"I played a lot in Madrid, almost every game. I played in all Real's successful seasons, I'm used to playing, not the other way round."

Are you ready to challenge Luis
Figo for the right-wing position?
"There's nothing new about this, I did it for five years at Real Madrid. But ours is sporting and positive competition, it does us players good."

Is second place in the league closer now after Milan's defeat yesterday?
"Undoubtedly. We will have to try and beat them when we play them. And there are still six matches to go. We have a lot of important matches, we must try to finish off the job we have done throughout the year. We can get into the
Champions League semi-finals, we won the first leg of the Tim Cup semi-final, and we can finish second in the league."

Solari, on Tuesday you play the Champions League quarter-final return leg against Villarreal.

"It's the most important match of the year for us right now because it could see us reach the Champions League semi-finals."

What kind of match can Inter expect at the Estadio El Madrigal?
"They are a very 'Spanish' team, they really like keeping possession of the ball and they take advantage of their quite small pitch. It will be a very tough match."

Are you expecting to play?
"I train every day as if I am to play the next match. This is my philosophy. It's clear that you can't always train and never play but like I said before, personal analyses will be made at the end of the season. During a championship, and particularly in this part of the season, we must think solely about our goals, which are all important."

What has irritated you most about your Italian experience, and what have you liked most?
"The most difficult thing was to find a house. I hope we win against Villarreal on Tuesday, it would make me very happy."
(房事真的是很多球員的夢魘XD)

Now you're playing decidedly better and regularly, would you like to stay at Inter?
"I said before that personal decisions are made at the end of the season."

Ronaldo, one of you former team-mates, is doing great things again in La Liga. Do you think a Ronaldo return to Inter would be a good thing?
"Ronaldo has always done great things. He had two knee operations, he was world champion and top scorer at the World Cup. He's back to being the best striker in the world. Did
Figo say he's waiting for him at Inter? Ronaldo should do what makes him happy. If he's happy at Real he should stay there. If he'd like to return to Inter, as far as I'm concerned he's welcome."

Do you agree with what Luis Figo says about Real Madrid making more commercial than sporting decisions in the last few years?
"I haven't heard Luis' declarations. I can say that it's true that for two or three years Real made more commercial than footballing decisions."
