BENITEZ PLEASED WITH PALETTA

  Rafael Benitez believes Gabriel Paletta is making a good impression on everyone at Melwood and feels the Argentinian ace could become a real fans favourite.
The 20-year-old centre half earned the applause of the Reds fans for his covering and tackling ability during the pre-season games at Wrexham and Crewe and is settling in well to his new surroundings.
 
"The language is still a problem for Gabriel and he is having English lessons, but I think it's fair to say there is no problem with his tackling," commented Rafael Benitez.

FANS TOP THREE PLAYERS V CREWE

  Craig Lindfield was voted Liverpool's star performer during the weekend 1-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra by the Reds fans in an exclusive vote on this website.
After each game we will pick a Liverpoolfc.tv top three players from the match and get you, the fans, to vote for your top three as well. We will keep this running throughout the season and then at the end of the campaign see which player comes out on top as the overall star performer.

1. Craig Lindfield. The 17-year-old was top scorer in the FA Youth Cup success of last season and was given an unexpected chance for the first team at Crewe, and boy did he take his opportunity. Lindfield combined superbly with Robbie Fowler in attack and scored a brilliant goal to earn the praise of Rafael Benitez.
 
2. Robbie Fowler. Looking lean and mean in pre-season, Robbie Fowler was like the conductor leading the orchestra at Crewe. His passing, awareness and vision was quite exemplary and he looks in great form. Fowler linked up superbly with Craig Lindfield in the Reds attack and was always encouraging the 17-year-old.
 
3. Gabriel Paletta. The 20-year-old centre half from Argentina looks as tough as they come and he could become a real fans favourite at Anfield. This boy loves to tackle and after two 45 minute run-outs against Wrexham and Crewe he looks an astute signing by Rafael Benitez.
