I’ll be back, insists Vieri

New Atalanta striker Christian Vieri has underlined that he wants to return
to the player he once was.

The Italian international joined his Atalanta teammates in Zingonia on Thursday
and was pleased to meet his new colleagues.

“I’m not that interested in how many goals I can score,” said Vieri, who was
accompanied by the club chief Ivan Ruggeri.

“I just want to be a real player again."

“I am now undergoing my physical rehabilitation at Milanello and then I will
start to train again,” added the former Juve man.

“I want to get back on to the pitch and I think this will happen by the end
of the year. I doubt it can be any earlier than that.”

The 33-year-old is training hard in an attempt to fully recover from the knee
injury which ruled him out of Germany 2006.

Vieri signed a one-year deal with Atalanta after sensationally agreeing to a
minimum wage contract worth just over £1,000 a month.

The striker, who initially joined Sampdoria this summer before rescinding his
contract, will also receive a £70,000 bonus for every goal he will net this season.
