Vieri's got mail for Samp


Christian Vieri is hours away from completing his move to Sampdoria and e-mailed
the club to profess his love for the Blucerchiati.

The speculation of an imminent switch saw supporters send in e-mails to discuss
whether it was a wise move, so the Italian international thought he'd join in the
debate.

“I am a big fan of Sampdoria and in the last few days I’ve frequently read
newspaper reports that Christian Vieri will join our club,” said the e-mail.
“I hope you will be able to complete the transfer.
Yours affectionately, Christian Vieri.”

The Marassi outfit replicated the message on their official website to show the
fans that the new arrival is not a mercenary in search of one final big money move.

Vieri is one of the most travelled Italian players, having gone through three
clubs in the last year alone: Inter, Milan and Monaco.

He terminated his contract with the French outfit this month and is said to have
agreed a one-year deal with Samp for just £600,000, having already passed a medical.

The secret to Vieri’s love affair with the Marassi side lies in his childhood,
as his father Roberto played for Sampdoria between 1966 and 1969.
