Football Italia rounds up the winners and the losers from Week 22 of the Serie A season
The winners…
Christian Vieri (Atalanta)
The former Azzurri striker made his comeback after more than a year on the sidelines, having recovered from his latest knee surgery. Bobo played the last 20 minutes against Empoli and almost immediately had a good chance on goal, proving that he is eager to give his contribution to the team. The player’s last match in Serie A dated back to a Milan-Messina tie on December 18, 2005, whereas he hasn’t scored in the Italian top flight since October 26, 2005, against Empoli.

Vieri: Glad to be back
Thursday 19 April, 2007
Atalanta striker Christian Vieri was thrilled to make his comeback after more than a year on the sidelines. “My ordeal has finally come to an end.”

The former Azzurri man had been out of action after undergoing knee surgery in November to recover from the problem which ruled him out of the 2006 World Cup.

He had not yet played for the Bergamaschi since his summer arrival, but was given a chance to shine in the final 20 minutes of the match with Empoli, which ended with a 2-0 defeat.

I have to thank my teammates and Atalanta, they have all helped me a lot,” said Vieri after the game at the Stadio Castellani.

My ordeal has finally come to an end. Training only in the gym for over a year was a very difficult thing for me to do,” added the former Juventus and Inter star.

Vieri had not played since March 27, 2006, when he was wearing the Monaco colours, and had a chance on goal almost immediately.

Sooner or later I will be able to score again. Now I am not worried about goals, I want to continue my physiotherapy program and I hope I can end the season without any other physical problems,” concluded the 33-year-old.

Vieri had joined Sampdoria last summer, but quit the club without taking part in a single training session, before agreeing to a minimum wage deal worth just over £1,000 a month with the Orobici.

http://www.atalanta.it/atalanta/news.do?dispatch=read&id=123

Vieri to sue Inter
Christian Vieri wants a combined £14m from former club Inter and Telecom Italia for allegedly spying on him during his Nerazzurri stay.

The striker, now at Atalanta, has reportedly filed a lawsuit against both after he claims they tailed him and illegally tapped his phone between 1999 and 2005.

It’s understood that the veteran is hoping to get £6m from the current Serie A leaders and £8m from the telecommunications company.

Rumours that Inter allegedly monitored Vieri’s lifestyle broke in the Press late last year.

The club, who haven’t commented on the story, were said to be concerned about his off-the-field activities.

The case could go to court sometime between May and September of this year, sources in the peninsula have claimed.

Vieri is now in Bergamo and hit the headlines last night after the injury-plagued striker played in his first competitive match for a year.
